Head of Product Management
Purpose of the role
To establish the competencies, approaches, and infrastructure needed to deliver our product strategies. Ensure that our product management function is optimised for productivity, quality, and building for the future.
About the role
The Head of Product Management works across Redgate to understand the business, product management and operational concerns that impact the way our strategic approach to product development, develop strategy to improve product management moving forward.
As Head of Product Management, you'll line manage the Group Product Managers and help set context and direction.
Skills
Leadership
- Inspire and motivate the company and get everyone moving in the same direction.
- Recruit experienced product managers who have overseen multiple stages of the lifecycle of high use products.
- Clearly define, and get cross-company buy-in on, the roles and responsibilities of PMs and the adoption of simple product processes.
- Build programs to train and support new PMs. Ensure that Redgate has mentoring and training to support new PMs.
Mentorship
- Help product managers to build deep relationships in each part of the organization and be able to work with many different functions and personality types effectively.
- Empower Product Managers to work effectively and get products progressed through the life cycle.
- Help Group Product Managers to navigate cross functional challenges and enable to work with stakeholders outside of PM team.
- Develop future Redgate's senior leaders and executive candidates.
Role-Specific
- Working with the CTO and engineering leadership to set speculative research and investment activities and then turn these into deliverables, establish delivery schedules and follow-up on interim and final delivery milestones.
- Evaluating the fidelity and quality of new products and enhancements to market driven needs.
- Leading activities as necessary to ensure delivery of technology that underpins scalable products to the market.
- Preparing periodic assessments of space that Redgate operates and trends and even that will to disruption.
- Defining the overall strategy for product portfolio including its commercial and technical evolution.
- Work with the CEO and other key executives to ensure a robust product vision and road map is set and adhered to.
- Make cross-functional, strategic trade-offs.
- Creating expansion strategies, acquisition and integration plans and approving investment with executive team and non-executive board of directors.
Communication
- Effectively communicate with stakeholders at this board level as well across executive, development, marketing, sales, finances and operations.
- Lay out a compelling portfolio strategy that includes a strong understanding of (i) who Redgate customers relay are, (ii) what it means to win in your market, (iii) how to differentiate as a product and company, and (iv) how to build compelling and remarkable products for our customers.
- Ability to communicate complex information clearly to many different audiences.
- Proven track record interacting with other executives and decision-makers.
- Inspire wider organisation on product’s strategic objectives and linking to the entire company success.
- Act as company spokesperson both internally and externally, to the C-suite and thought leader level.

- Create and drive the company profitability and growth through the decision on investment in the product mix.

- Bringing new products lines and categories to market with return-on-investment analysis and long term growth prospects.
